EcoFlow STREAM App Setup and Solar Monitoring Guide

How to set up the EcoFlow app for your STREAM kit, configure smart scheduling, and monitor real-time generation data.

🇬🇧This article is relevant for the UK market

Getting Started with the EcoFlow App

The EcoFlow app is available for iOS and Android and provides real-time monitoring of your STREAM plug-in solar kit. It shows live generation, historical data, battery status, and lets you configure smart scheduling.

Initial Setup

  1. Download the EcoFlow app from the App Store or Google Play
  2. Create an account using your email address
  3. Power on your STREAM by plugging it into a wall socket
  4. Open the app and tap "Add Device"
  5. Select STREAM from the device list
  6. Connect to WiFi — the app will prompt you for your home network credentials
  7. Complete pairing — the STREAM connects via Bluetooth first, then WiFi

Setup typically takes 2-3 minutes. If you have WiFi issues, check our WiFi troubleshooting guide.

What the App Shows

Real-Time Dashboard

  • Current generation (watts) — updates every few seconds
  • Daily total (kWh) — cumulative generation since midnight
  • Battery status (if installed) — charge level, charging/discharging rate
  • Grid export estimate — how much you're sending back to the grid

Historical Data

  • Daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly generation charts
  • Peak generation time — when your panels produce most
  • Self-consumption ratio — percentage of generation used directly
  • Estimated savings — calculated from your entered tariff rate

Smart Scheduling (Battery Models)

If your STREAM includes the 600Wh battery, the app lets you set smart schedules:

  • Self-consumption mode: Battery charges during peak solar, discharges in evening
  • Time-of-use mode: Set charge/discharge windows to match your energy tariff
  • Manual mode: Set specific charge and discharge times

For Octopus Agile users, you can potentially align discharge with peak-rate periods to maximise savings.

Comparing with Alternative Monitoring

Feature EcoFlow App Tapo P110 Shelly Plus Plug
Real-time watts Yes Yes Yes
Daily totals Yes Yes Yes
Battery control Yes No No
Smart scheduling Yes Basic Advanced
Cost Free (included) ~£15 ~£20
Local control No No Yes

The EcoFlow app provides more integrated functionality but requires an internet connection. For privacy-focused users, a Shelly Plus Plug offers local monitoring as a complement.

Tips for Accurate Monitoring

  1. Enter your tariff rate in the app settings for accurate savings calculations
  2. Enable notifications for generation milestones and system alerts
  3. Check weekly to spot any unexpected drops in output
  4. Compare with PVGIS estimates to verify your system is performing as expected

Why does my app show zero generation at night?

Solar panels only generate during daylight. Zero output at night is normal. If the app shows zero during a sunny day, check your inverter connection.

Can I monitor from multiple devices?

Yes — log into your EcoFlow account on any device to see your STREAM data.

Does the app work without WiFi?

The STREAM will generate power without WiFi, but monitoring data won't update in the app until connection is restored. Historical data is stored locally on the device and syncs when WiFi reconnects.
